Which of these three is closest to the Russian pronunciation?

Why would you think that [ˈʝəʊ̈səf ˈstɐːɫən] would potentially be closer, when Russian does not have [ʝ] (but does have [j])?

Anyways, this is a thread about how you pronounce things, not about asking people how one ought to pronounce things.

Some famous names:
Joseph Stalin [dʒoʊsəf / ˈdʒəʊsəf ˈstaːɫɪn] or [ən]
Wilhelm Röntgen [ˈvɪɫɦɛɫm ˈɹœːnʔgn̩] or [ɾentogen] because it's used in Japanese for X-rays
Marie Skłodowska-Curie [ˈmaɹi ˈkʰjʉːɹi]
Niels Bohr [niəɫs boː.ɹ̩]
Erwin Schrödinger [(ɛɹwən) ˈʃɹəʊdɪŋɹ̩] or [ˈʃɹœːdɪŋɹ̩] if i want to show off
Gerard 't Hooft [dʒəˈɹɑːɹd ət hoʊft] who?
Stanisław Ulam [ˈstanɪslav ˈuːlam] who?
Nikita Khrushchev [nɪˈkʰiːtʰə kʰɹʉːʃtʃɛv]
Enrico Fermi [n̩ˈɹiko fɹ̩ːmi]

although most of these, aside from Marie Curie and sometimes Joseph Stalin, i'd use only the last name.

How do you pronounce "picture"? I pronounce it like "pickcher" but I've often heard people say it like "pitcher".

Vengaboys - We're Going To Ibiza

Why do they say "Ibiza" as "eebeetsa" in the song? Isn't "Ibiza" pronounce "eebeetha"?

Probably just confusion between the pronunciation of "z" in Spanish and in other Romance languages like Italian. You can find a lot of posts online that mention that some people pronounce "chorizo" as "choritso". One common British pronunciation of "Ibiza" is actually "eye-beetha", with the "price" diphthong in the first syllable.

Because the Venga Boys are a Dutch band, and that's how the Dutch pronounce it, probably under the influence of German. Had they sung [ibiθa], no-one would've understood them.

(EDIT: Another hit of theirs is "vamos a la playa", which they sing with a [v], so in general their pronunciation lacks a bit...)

Which is particularly interesting given that the local pronunciation of the name is [əjˈvisə].

How do you pronounce "nightingale"? For me it phonemically has /n/ before the /g/ not /N/ because the "t" is pronounced as a glottal stop not a flap.
