Zompist
what does "zompist" mean, and where did the name come from?
Re: Zompist
One who zomps
Re: Zompist
That sounds more like a zomper than a zompist, tbh

Re: Zompist
An adherent of zompism. Zoological Ontontological Metarealist Phenominalism, to expand the acronym. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy has a better explanation of this ideological viewpoint than I could provide, or Salmoneus could probably provide an entertaining ten paragraph summary. I am agnostic vis a vis the merits of zompism versus maoism versus trotskyism versus the views of Walter Bagehot.

Re: Zompist
What would the verb "to zomp" mean, though? Never seen it before.

It's also the Dutch word for swamp.

That was your first mistake.Serafín wrote:Let's check what Urban Dictionary says...
I generally forget to say, so if it's relevant and I don't mention it--I'm from Southern Michigan and speak Inland North American English. Yes, I have the Northern Cities Vowel Shift; no, I don't have the cot-caught merger; and it is called pop.

Seriously though, why?Serafín wrote:Let's check what Urban Dictionary says...

Re: Zompist
Yeah, that's pretty much it. Though just to be fair, the word was invented by a friend of mine.kodé wrote:i remember reading on his site a long, long time ago that "zompist" was a type of humor he invented as a kid. corroboration?
