Not really, in Chile we have them just a bit faster: 60kph in cities, 80kph in rural roads, 120kph in highways, and there's no rain limit.

The rain one exists in France, where normally you can go 130 on highways and 110 if it's raining. I think it's also like that on the major expressways, but with 110 / 100.

I made this twice, because the program crashed right when I was done, the first time. Luckily it didn't take too long.

(insurance stamp- I suppose a 5 year contract extension was a little long, but hey, customer loyalty)

I know, but we're getting short on time, and this looks good enough to me (I am actually really satisfied with it, though; I don't really mean that I'm compromising). The wings flapping down are really actually the same images as the wings flapping up, recoloured and a bit clipped, haha. I'm a cheater, but if cheating works..!

Yeah. Though that's only a 5-year prohibition stamp. There are others, namely a permanent ban stamp.

Hey, they aren't that draconian! Okay, well, at least from my US point-of-view where low speed limits are commonplace. Indeed, limits in the US, or the state in which I live, are rather low, with one only being able to travel 70 mph (112 km/h) on a few stretches of interstate. It's only in Europe/South America that you actually travel at civilized speeds (120+ km/h) on expressways, it seems. And Timmytiptoe is right, and the lower rain limit is also to be found in Luxembourg.
Part of this is due to the poor-ish road conditions in Ilia, though. You certainly don't want to be running down a potholed highway at 100 km/h, and the repairs on some of the rural roads are slow, at best.

I remember my mom's old (really old, back before we moved to Germany) Datsun also had a large dash on the speedometer at 55 mph (approx. 90 km/h), and that was back from the time when the US had a national 55 mph speed limit. I guess the presumption is that, if they make it visible enough, you're less likely to ignore it.

Huh, both motorway and speedway?! I've never seen this in Europe so far (though I haven't been to too many countries).

FWIW, Germany has default speed limits for cars (up to 3500 kg, without trailers) of 30 in housing areas (or at least that's what we were recommended to keep at driver's ed), 50 on main streets in cities, 100 outside of cities (though restrictions to 70 or 80 are common and may even occur on wide, well-built, straight streets where you can go 110-120 easily without doing harm to anyone), and "recommended speed" on motorways is 130, but it's not unusal for it to be limited to 100-120 around cities, because of on- and off-ramps. Outside of cities, people often go 10-20 km/h faster than allowed, though, if both the road and traffic density allow it (And some even if not. Those are considered reckless).

I was actually working on the embossed look, but then my program crashed. I had to redo the entire plate, and really the only reason I left it this way was because I needed to go to bed. I might actually prefer it this way. Our new Belgian plates are made of a flat piece of plastic with a metallic layer behind it, too. (In truth, we have a traditional embossed metal plate on the back of the car, simply because that's the one you get when you order new plates. You have to get the other one made at a garage, and the one near us only had the plastic ones...)

Public transportation also isn't as prevalent, especially outside of the Northeast. Also, in America it is often absurdly easy to get a driver's license (at least compared to how I understand it works in Germany). Furthermore, passing on the right is in many cases perfectly legal, and even where it's illegal it isn't very stringently enforced.

There are some highways out in very sparsely populated West Texas that have speed limit 80 (128 km/h) with discussion on raising them to 85 (136 km/h).

It's just really a sign designation to make things a bit easier to design.

Okay, cool. I was wondering because some states in the US are going to unembossed plates, and the ones in the UK are flat plastic (maybe with a metal layer behind it). Regardless, though, it does look cool and not too out-of-place from other countries' plates.

Today I summoned all my artistic skills to draw a hand, and labelled the fingers, knuckles, ring, palm etc.
Having a visual aid helps me remember new words.
I couldn't scan it for you, so I got another pic of a hand from the net and used MS Paint to add the words to it so I could post it. If somebody hadn't published their version(which was for the conlang Qatama), I wouldn't have thought to do it, so I made sure to post mine. Hopefully it'll inspire somebody to make their own diagram of, for instance, a face, labeling the eyes, ears, nose, etc. It's a good way to fill out that part of your lexicon. I think later I'll draw a whole person, which will force me to develop words for body parts which I can't currently label. It'll also give a visual representation of the meanings of the words; important for visual learners like myself.
